Short Dart Shafts

A short dart stem is a popular choice particularly for players who hold the dart at the front (nearer to the point). This length of stem will move the center of gravity of the dart towards the front end of the barrel, making it the ideal choice for front grippers.

You’ll find something for players of all levels in this collection with a variety of materials to choose from, including nylon, polycarbonate and aluminium, and options from leading brands such as Harrows, Unicorn and Mission.

Should I use a short length?

Whilst small in size and weight, the length of your stems will impact your darts and how they travel through the air. The size of the stem will also make a difference to how the dart travels in the air and how it lands in the board.

A short stem should bring out the best results for players who hold the dart at the front. A short stem will shift the dart’s center of gravity to the front, making it more beneficial for front grippers.

If you hold the dart towards the back (nearer to the flight), then we would recommend using long dart stems instead. A longer stem will move the center of gravity of the dart towards the back, which is ideal for rear grippers.

If you’re looking for other stem options, take a look at our collections of tweenie dart stems and medium dart stems. These are two popular stem lengths and are perfect for players looking for something between short and long stems for their darts.

The best short stems for your darts corner

Short darts shafts are available in several different materials such as nylon, polycarbonate and aluminium. The material of a darts stem can also alter the trajectory of a dart. For example, a metal darts stem is heavier than ones made from nylon or polycarbonate. This small difference can affect how your darts travels through the air.

The Designa Shafts collection is a popular choice for beginners with a wide selection of nylon stems in a range of colors and designs to choose from. A nylon stem is less durable than stems made from other materials but is ideal for newcomers getting into the game. This is because a nylon stem tends to be less expensive than stems crafted from different materials.

The Mission Darts Sabre range is a leading option for the more serious player as these polycarbonate stems offer lightness and strength, as well as being finished off with an aluminium fixed top to provide extra grip for the flight. This collection of shafts is also available in a variety of different colors to cater for all preferences and styles.
