Josh Rock’s Darts Gear

The darts that Josh Rock currently uses are the Josh Rock 24g Mission Signature Darts. These darts are made of 95% tungsten and are his latest design, featuring a cut to create a more aggressive grip. His v2 darts have a natural finish with blue PVD within the ringed cuts on the barrels.

Josh uses the Mission Sniper Points in his darts which provides him with extra grip and also minimizes any damage to the dartboard when retrieving his darts after each throw. He wears a Josh Rock Mission Player Shirt which has been specifically designed for him. The shirt’s design plays on his ‘Rocky’ nickname with a meteor on the back.

The entirety of the Josh Rock collection is all available on this page.

Josh Rock & Mission Darts

Josh Rock signed with Mission Darts in February 2022, a month after securing his first PDC tour card at UK Q-School.

On signing with Mission, Josh commented: “It’s been a whirlwind few months with gaining my tour card and signing for Mission! It feels like a new beginning, and I’m pumped to show everyone what I’m made of! Watch this space!”

How old is Josh Rock?

Born on April 13, 2001, Josh Rock celebrated his 22nd birthday in 2023. Whilst still eligible to play on the PDC Development Tour, he won five titles in his first season in 2022, before becoming the first player from Northern Ireland to win the PDC World Youth Championship.

Rock beat Scotland’s Nathan Girvan 6-1 in the final, held on stage at Butlin’s Minehead and live in front of the ITV cameras, in November 2022. His average of 104.13 is the highest ever recorded in a final in the tournament’s history.

What age did Josh Rock start playing darts?

Josh Rock started playing darts in the pub leagues around the age of 10 or 11, before focusing on school and returning to the sport when he was 16 years old. ‘Rocky’ has had a passion for darts from a young age, catching an interest in the game from his dad playing, while the multi-time world champion Gary Anderson was a player he looked up to for inspiration.

During the pandemic, Rock started to practice for seven or eight hours a day as he was stuck at home in the lockdowns, and towards the end of 2021 he made his mark with a run to the final of the Irish Classic, and the quarter-finals of the Irish Open, in the WDF system. At the start of 2022 he made the jump to the PDC and entered UK Q-School for the first time, where he won a two-year tour card to join the professional tour.

Where does Josh Rock live?

Josh Rock lives in Broughshane, a village in County Antrim, in Northern Ireland. In his teenage years, Rock was a budding footballer and captained his local side Antrim Rovers, playing as a right-back.

His last job before going full-time as a professional dart player was working in a chicken factory in Antrim. Josh helped the chicks to hatch before they moved on to their farms to become bigger, but left the chicken run behind in September 2022 to concentrate completely on his darts career.

How did Josh Rock do in his first years in darts?

After winning a two-year PDC tour card at UK Q-School at the start of 2022, Josh Rock had a debut season to remember on the professional circuit. He won his maiden title on the tour at Players Championship 28, in October 2022, averaging 108 in the final to beat Luke Humphries 8-5.

Rock signed off his first year on the PDC circuit on the verge of the world’s top 32, with his impressive debut season earning him the Best Newcomer and Young Player of the Year honors in the PDC’s annual awards.

His second term on the tour has seen him break even more ground, reaching a maiden European Tour final, at the Austrian Darts Open, in April 2023. The Northern Irishman qualified for the prestigious World Matchplay for the first time at the top of the list of ProTour qualifiers. Rock was beaten 10-5 by Australia’s Damon Heta in the opening round of the World Matchplay in July 2023. At the end of the tournament, he rose to a new career high of number 28 on the PDC Order of Merit.

Josh Rock Career Highlights

In August 2022, Josh Rock produced a near-world record level performance – averaging an incredible 121.88 in a 6-1 win against Brendan Dolan in the second round of Players Championship 22.

Josh Rock vs Michael van Gerwen has become an exciting rivalry in the world of darts. The two players met for the first time in the last 16 of the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts, with Rock throwing a nine darter in just the second leg of the match.

Van Gerwen prevailed 10-8 on that occasion in the Grand Slam, but ‘Rocky’ would get his revenge with an astonishing 7-0 win in the semi-finals of the 2023 Austrian Darts Open on the European Tour stage.

Josh Rock: 9-dart finish

In his first tournament in front of the Sky Sports cameras, Josh Rock announced himself on the world stage at the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts with a brilliant nine-dart leg in his last 16 clash against Michael van Gerwen. ‘Rocky’ started the second leg with two 180s and checked out 141 to spark wild celebrations inside the Aldersley Leisure Village, in Wolverhampton.
