A Week In Darts – August 29, 2023 – Sherrock Throws Nine-Dart Leg On Television

Fallon Sherrock once again took all of the headlines in the world of darts last week as the ‘Queen of the Palace’ wrote her name into the history books with an incredible nine-dart leg on the Modus Super Series. Welcome to A Week In Darts – Darts Corner’s look back at all things darts during the last seven days.

Fallon Sherrock made more history as she became the first female player to throw a perfect nine-dart leg on television last week.

The 29-year-old first rose to fame back in 2019 by winning two matches at the PDC World Championship – the first woman to achieve that feat on the Alexandra Palace stage.

Sherrock went on to break more new ground for female players, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts, as well as the final of the Nordic Darts Masters in the same year.

In March this year, the ‘Queen of the Palace’ became the first female to hit a nine darter in the PDC, throwing the perfect leg in a Challenge Tour event in Germany.

Her first nine-dart finish in front of the cameras came on Friday, throwing two 180s followed by a 141 finish in the sixth leg of her match against Adam Lipscombe in the Modus Super Series.

The PDC ProTour made its return in Germany at the weekend after a summer break and Gerwyn Price was in top form as he won both Players Championship titles.

The world number four defeated Josh Rock 8-5 in the final of Players Championship 17 on Saturday, before going back-to-back with an 8-1 victory over Gian van Veen in the Players Championship 18 decider the following day.

Price is the first player to win consecutive Players Championship titles in 2023, with this latest double taking the Welshman on to 33 PDC career tournament wins.

“If I’m winning tournaments when I’m playing my C-game, when my A-game comes out, hopefully that’s good enough as well, because some people turn me over when I’m playing my best!” Price reflected.

“When there are ranking points at stake, it means a little bit more, and luck was on my side this weekend.”

The ProTour continues with a triple header of Players Championship events in Barnsley from September 3-5.

Xiaochen Zong produced a stunning 11-dart leg in the decider to retain the PDC China Premier League title at the weekend.

The latest season of the China Premier League reached its conclusion with the final three regular rounds of the competition, followed by the all-important play-offs.

‘The Pandaman’ was the reigning champion and backed up his credentials by winning all three of the remaining ‘night’ fixtures to qualify for the play-offs in top spot.

With a place in the 2024 PDC World Championship on the line, Zong started his play-off campaign with a 10-3 victory over Bin Zheng in the semi-finals, before edging past Xicheng Han 11-10 in the decider to clinch the title and a spot at Alexandra Palace in December.
